extra_large_5899fe49de8942076dbb183657fd

A popular commuting route for cyclists in town, but features a dirt section further outside the city center.  Built on former railroad tracks, it travels from the downtown Railyard area to Eldorado, east of the city.  A mountain bikers’ fun-path. This is a great choice for families and beginners.  Nothing technical.  Rolling hills to start and throughout, which means some easy climbing with these trails, some whoops and some dips and some speed to be caught.  Meet at Rabbit Rd. Trailhead or arrange following from town.  Three options here:

1.)  WHALE TRAIL - Beginner / All Levels

About a 1 Hour Ride:  Spur Trail directly to ETHYL THE WHALE...

Wide sandy and gravely path to the Whale!  Life size! 84 Feet Long, she is Ethyl the Whale which is owned by Meow Wolf at the Santa Fe Community College.  Views to the East and North!  This trail has some sandy parts and could be slippery with the dry dirt and sand, but it's manageable and rideable, (you can do it!)...    It is not a Singletrack trail, but there is a small section that takes you to Ethyl that IS Singletrack.  Nothing Technical..  -BEST FOR EASY FAMILY RIDE

 $65.00 per Person.  Children Permitted.

2.)  Rail Trail - Spur Trail to Ethyl - Beginner / Intermediate

2 Hour Ride:  Rail Trail turns to Spur Trail to Ethyl the Whale also.  Views to the South and Southwest!  Essentially heading down slope for this ride, which means pedaling back... This trail has some sandy parts and could be slippery with the dry dirt and sand...  Approximately 8.9 miles round trip, but keep in mind it could still be tough considering it is a trek back up to the starting point.  It is not a Singletrack trail, but there is a small section that takes you to Ethyl that is singletrack.  Nothing Technical..

   $85.00 per Person.  Children Permitted.

3.)  Rail Trail - Eldorado - Intermediate / Advanced

2.5-3.5 Hour Ride: Rail Trail to Eldorado and back.  Views to the East and South and South West.  Approximately 14 miles ++ round trip depending on how far riders are wanting to ride, but this will take you to a turn around spot where we will ride back to Santa Fe from Eldorado.  NO Singletrack at all.  Nothing Technical... This has Lots of Rolling Hills, it's pretty fun!  Same scenario as the Spur Trail in a way...

Los Alamos/White Rock
Mountainous Ride
- About 1 Hour from Plaza

900350_medium_1554223705.jpg

Lots of great single track in the area, but not for the faint of heart or faint of lung. Average elevation around town is 7400 ft above sea level, so the air is thin. Most trails are rocky and technical. Not a lot of sustained fast and flowy stuff and not a lot of flat ground. If you are into technical riding and have a high degree of fitness this is an incredibly fun area to ride, but if you're a beginner or not in the best physical shape there are only a handful of trails suitable for you.  Follow from Santa Fe or meet at trailhead.

1.)  Los Alamos - Beginner / Intermediate / Advanced

1 Hour Ride:  Some ascending and descending through some awesome lava like rocks that are formed into trails.  Epic mountain views, scope out cool rocks and cliffs and enjoy the Pine and views!  Don't forget, there was a fire out there years ago.  This trail is on a Peninsula that will amaze you!

 $99.00 per Person.  Children Permitted.

2.)  Los Alamos - Advanced

2-2.5 Hour Ride:  Some ascending and descending.  Some major Tech in some spots.  Epic canyon and mountain views, scope out cool rocks and cliffs and enjoy the Pine and Sage!
